What a Crazy Start to a Football Season! It’s the only way to explain this crazy year.
After a great pre-season hit out (and before the craziness started), the girls high from that game was short lived after a less than perfect performance two weeks ago in their second friendly.
We were eager to put that game behind us and concentrate on starting the season right. The girls were up against it on Sunday for their match against a strong full strength Armadale side with only 12 players, 3 of which were carrying niggles and 1 player coming off a long lay off due to knee surgery.
Knowing that Armadale were going to be very physical, the girls came out with intensity from the kickoff and they all played their part in a hard fought game and at some points with only 9 on the pitch to come away with a 0-0 draw.
Some excellent saves from Clara helped pump up the girls and give them the energy to fight till the end. This draw was as good as a win and shows how working hard and trusting as a team that anything is possible.
I was extremely proud and impressed at how
quickly the girls have all came together as a team and played for each other even though this years team has a majority of new players to the club.
Three seasons in and we have not lost an opening game yet!!
